Avenue of the Arts Mural Tour #1

Corydon Through Time

(Mural No. 2, painted in 2009 ) (Artists: Michel Saint Hilaire and Mandy van Leeuwen)
Colour, fashion and architectural design of the 1920's to the 1950's are showcased in this mural at Corydon and Daly Street. The Knox House on Warsaw, the picnic basket, an old fashioned blanket a tricycle of yesteryears. The mural brings you to modern times via new homes featured West of the Knox House and the smiling faces are ready for the hustle and bustle of Corydon. Characters painted on this part of the mural will suggest diverse fashions of several eras including the present.

Michel Saint Hilaire's newest addition to the Corydon street scene has been painted on the two traffic control boxes which are located in front of the Daly mural, at Daly Street and Corydon Avenue. The request by the Corydon Avenue Biz was simply to add a flare to the dull green boxes and create another artistic element to the area.

This is a Michel Saint Hilaire original and is very much a style that is found in his personal works. Saint Hilaire's fine art explores the prairie landscape. In addition to the softness and fluidity of nature comes a layer of architectural elements and linear patterns which suggests the invasive and transformative qualities brought on by humans. “I was influenced by the MTS building while I was painting the boxes which is just across the street. It was a very spontaneous smaller piece of work!”
